Gluten-Free, Low Sugar Coconut Macaroon Edible Cookie Dough Recipe
Gluten-Free, Low Sugar Coconut Macaroon Edible Cookie Dough Recipe
Our Coconut Macaroon Tea is part of our fruit tea varieties and is so good you could just eat it right out of the bag. In this recipe, that what we do!
Not all of our teas can be consumed this way, but our Coconut Macaroon tea is unique. It is made entirely out of fruit like apple and sweetened pineapple pieces, shredded coconut, plus it has marzipan drops, yogurt granules, and just a touch of sweet blackberry leaves.
Each element of this tea comes together to create its unique but classic Coconut Macaroon flavor, which makes it perfect for baked or not-so-baked goods in this low-sugar, gluten-free, edible cookie dough.
We consider this recipe one of our best easy cookie recipes because it comes together in minutes, requires no special equipment, and the best part is, it requires absolutely no cooking!
What Makes Edible Cookie Dough so Edible?
Who doesn’t love sneaking bites of the cookie dough before it goes into the oven? However, we all know that enjoying too much of that delicious dough could cause an actual stomach ache, not to mention all the sugar and carbs in cookie dough.
Traditional cookie dough contains raw eggs, and when we consume raw eggs, there is the possibility of salmonella contamination. Ingesting raw eggs can cause severe stomach distress and, in some cases, food poisoning.
What if I told you you could have your cookie dough and eat it too?
This easy edible cookie dough recipe removes the need for raw eggs. Since we aren’t baking the cookies, we don’t need eggs to help them fluff up and bind together. Instead, we can use fat to hold our dough.
An eggless cookie dough recipe means we enjoy our cookies that much faster as there is no cooking necessary to kill those harmful salmonella pathogens. The combination of no raw eggs and gluten-free ingredients makes this recipe the overall healthy choice on multiple fronts!
Low-Sugar, Gluten-Free Cookie Dough
This treat is almost absolutely guilt-free as it is low in sugar and low in carbs. We’ve used quality ingredients that are filled with healthy compounds. Instead of the high fructose corn syrup desserts you see on the shelves of your grocery store. This no-bake cookie dough recipe is made with nuts and plant-based fats and sugars. This protein-rich recipe makes it easy to have a few extra servings of dessert!
- Coconut oil — Coconut oil is high in omega-6 fatty acids. It contains healthy saturated fats that may help with heart disease and even improve heart health.
- Almond flour — Made from ground almonds, this flour is high in protein and low in carbs.
- Coconut flour — Also low in carbs. Coconut flour is packed with fiber and can help stabilize blood sugar.
- Unsweetened coconut shreds — Choosing unsweetened over-sweetened means you can avoid an energy slump from the sugar consumption and instead enjoy similar benefits to coconut flour.
- Pure organic vanilla extract — Did you know that vanilla extract contains antioxidants? Vanilla extract is a tincture where alcohol is used to pull the flavor and benefits from the vanilla bean. This process helps preserve the antioxidant levels in the vanilla bean as well.
- Stevia Sweetened super dark chocolate — Choosing stevia-sweetened dark chocolate, you not only get all the benefits of the antioxidants in the dark chocolate, but you’ll also avoid the traditional blood sugar spike from milk chocolates or cane-sugar sweetened.
Of course, a little cheat day is always in order, but there is also no reason not to reach for the healthy stuff when it tastes this good.
Gluten-Free Equals Freedom
While gluten-free doesn’t sound like the most liberating diet on the planet, going gluten-free can help release you from so many ailments that you have probably just learned to live with over the years.
Cutting out gluten can relieve digestive tract issues like:
- Constipation
- Bloating
- Diarrhea
- Indigestion and upset stomach
- Gas
- And even fatigue
Most people with gluten sensitivities don’t even realize they have a gluten sensitivity and chock it up to various other foods that cause the problem. By simply reducing gluten, you can see an almost immediate change in the behaviors of your digestive tract and a release of overall discomfort.
We suggest eliminating gluten heavy foods such as:
- Bread
- Pasta
- Baked goods contain flour
- Cereals
- Store-bought sauces laden with gluten
And instead, incorporate more:
- Fruits
- Nuts
- Seeds
- Vegetables
- Grains like rice or quinoa, bulgar, couscous, and other whole grains to keep your heart healthy
By simply lowering the amount of gluten you consume, you could boost your mood and metabolism, helping you maintain or even lose weight without trying very hard.
