Unleash Your Mind Powers with a Green Tea Latte

You love a hot matcha latte on those busy days when you want to focus on your tasks, cleanse your body, and enjoy a delicate fragrance. And we promise you that once you finished reading this simple and easy tutorial, you will match any barista in matcha late making skills.

There is no “best” matcha tea variety for a latte. Maybe you enjoy the traditional taste of Matcha Matsu and Grand Cru. Or maybe you are partial to the flavored varieties, such as Vanilla Matcha or Maple Matcha. Follow this guide, and you will definitely make your best hot matcha latte, just as you enjoy it.

What you’ll
need

  • 2 Perfect Matcha Spoons of traditional matcha (or 5 Perfect Matcha Spoons of flavoured matcha)
  • ½ cup (4 oz) warm water
  • Matcha bowl
  • 16 oz mug
  • 1 ¼ cup of milk or any dairy free alternative

Step 1

Measure the Perfect Quantity of Matcha

Precision is crucial when measuring matcha tea. This is why we recommend Estero Tea Perfect Matcha Spoon – a stainless steel spoon with the perfect design for measuring matcha powder. In our experience, 2-3 scoops are sufficient for a delicious hot matcha latte.

Step 2

Create a Paste by Adding Water

Now pour a quarter of a cup of water (2 oz) with a temperature between 75°C for traditional matcha and 85°C for flavored matcha. Use the bamboo whisk to create a smooth and uniform paste without clumps.

Don’t have a thermometer?

Let your boiled kettle sit for 7-10 minutes before using.

Step 3

Whisk Vigorously to Create the Well-Known Matcha Froth

Pour another ¼ cup of warm water into the bowl and start whisking. In this way, air goes into the drink, creating the froth, which releases the unique matcha flavor.

How to whisk matcha like a pro.

Briskly whisk your matcha in an “M” formation going from the bottom of the bowl and working your way up towards the surface until the matcha reaches a smooth consistency and a layer of foam appears.

Step 4

Pour the Matcha and Add Foamy Milk

If you want a perfect mug of hot matcha latte, use a spoon to hold back the matcha froth until you’ve poured most of the tea. Add the foamy milk to complete the recipe. You can use 1%, 2%, or whole milk, as well as plant-based variations (almond, coconut, or soy milk). Please remember that each milk variety will give your hot matcha latte a different flavor.
