See How Easy It Is to Create the Perfect Glass of Iced Matcha
Vibrant green color, smooth taste, and a feeling of complete refreshment – this is how a perfect glass of iced matcha should be. Do you think you need special skills and training to prepare it?
We are here to tell you that you can become a master in the art of making iced matcha at home. Pick up your matcha bowl and whisk, take a deep breath, and follow our simple and fun-filled guide.
What you’ll
need
- 2 Perfect Matcha Spoons traditional matcha OR 5 Perfect Matcha Spoons flavoured matcha
- 10 oz warm water, divided
- 16 oz ice
- Bamboo whisk
- Matcha Bowl
- 16 oz mug
Step 1
Put the Right Amount of Matcha in the Bowl
With ESTERO TEA Perfect Matcha Spoon, you will always pour the ideal quantity of green matcha powder into the bowl. For iced matcha, we recommend 2-3 Perfect Matcha Spoons.
Step 2
Add A Little Warm Water
Just 2 oz of water is sufficient to help you create the matcha paste with the whisk. The perfect texture is smooth, without clumps. As with any other type of teas, water temperature is the critical factor that influences the final taste and fragrance. For iced matcha, the ideal water temperature is between 75° and 85°C (170-185°F). If you don’t have a thermometer, let boiling water cool for 7-10 minutes.
Water temperature is one of the most important variables in steeping a consistently fresh-tasting cup of iced matcha.
Expert tip: cooler water will create froth and the mesmerizing jade-green color.
Step 3
Whisk the Matcha to Create Froth
Add 2 oz more of warm water over the paste and whisk vigorously to create froth. Here’s an insider tip from us: whisk in an M shape starting from the bottom of the bowl and work upwards. Watch the magic happen as the froth forms at the surface.
How to whisk matcha like a pro.
Briskly whisk your matcha in an “M” formation going from the bottom of the bowl and working your way up towards the surface until the matcha reaches a smooth consistency and a layer of foam appears. Repeat until you get that vibrant Insta-worthy froth.
PRO TIP: For an extra frothy matcha, soak the tips of your whisk in warm water before using.
Step 4
Pour the Matcha over Ice Cubes
Now get your favorite tea mug ready, fill it with ice cubes, and pour the frothed matcha. Fill up the mug with warm water and stir to distribute the matcha evenly. Now take the first sip of your iced matcha and enjoy its rich fragrance.
Give it a little stir before sipping
This will help the tea cool down quicker and distribute the matcha evenly throughout your cup.
