Find Out How Easy It Is to Make a Perfect Iced Matcha Latte
A glass of iced matcha latte is cool and refreshing for the body and the mind. With its detoxifying properties, matcha is the ideal tea variety for every day. Add ice and foamy milk, and you get the best of all possible worlds: delicate flavor, thirst-quenching, and a boost for your mind to focus on important tasks.
You can use any variety of matcha for an iced latte, from traditional blends (Matcha Matsu or Grand Cru) to flavored varieties (our Vanilla Matcha and Peach Matcha specialties).
What you’ll
need
- 2 Perfect Matcha Spoons of traditional matcha (or 5 Perfect Matcha Spoons of flavoured matcha)
- ½ cup (4 oz) warm water
- Matcha bowll
- Bamboo whisk
- 16 oz mug
- 1 cup of milk
Step 1
Measure the Matcha and Put It in the Bowl
A flavored and satisfying glass of matcha iced latte is neither too strong nor too weak. Since we are talking about very small quantities, precision is crucial. This is why we recommend using Estero Tea Perfect Matcha Spoon. You will need 2-3 spoons for traditional matcha or 5-6 spoons for flavored matcha.
Step 2
Pour a Little Water to Create a Paste
Add 2 oz of warm water and use the whisk to create a smooth paste free of clumps. Make sure that the water temperature is 750 C for traditional matcha or 850 C for flavored matcha. Do not use boiling hot water, as it will burn the tea powder and release a bitter taste.
Don’t have a thermometer?
Let your boiled kettle sit for 7-10 minutes before using.
Step 3
Create the Matcha Froth by Whisking
Add 2 oz of water to the paste and start whisking energetically. Start from the bottom of the bowl and move up so that the air penetrates the drink and creates the froth.
How to whisk matcha like a pro.
Briskly whisk your matcha in an “M” formation going from the bottom of the bowl and working your way up towards the surface until the matcha reaches a smooth consistency and a layer of foam appears.
Step 4
Pour the Matcha over Ice Cubes and Add Foamy Milk
Finally, get your favorite glass, fill it with ice cubes, and pour the frothy matcha over them. For a more intense flavor, use a spoon to hold the froth back until most of the liquid is in the glass.
PRO TIP: Use a large spoon to hold back the foam and allow the liquid to pour in first. As the liquid runs out, release the spoon to let the foam fill the balance of the cup
Top with milk for the finishing touch.
Add milk (1%, 2%, or whole milk) or plant-based specialties, stir a bit, and enjoy the smooth flavor of your iced matcha latte. Depending on the type of milk you use, you will experience a new, delicious taste every time.
