Become a Master of Iced Tea Making
Iced tea hydrates you and takes away your thirst. And this is why it is the perfect drink on a sizzling hot summer afternoon. Also, it is not as difficult to prepare as you imagine. After following our step by step instructions a few times, it will become second nature to you.
You will have to pay attention to these three aspects:
- • The amount of tea
- • The water temperature
- • The steeping time.
The DIY guide below will help you get them just right every time you fancy a glass of iced tea.
What you’ll
need
- 2 Perfect Spoons of loose leaf tea
- 10 oz (295 ml) hot water
- 16 oz ice
- Steeper
- Matcha Bowl
- 16 oz mug
Step 1
Add the Right Amount of Tea into the Steeper
ESTERO TEA Perfect Spoon is your best friend whenever you want to make tea. It is made of stainless steel and has the perfect shape and size to help you measure loose leaf tea with precision. For iced tea, use 1 or 2 Perfect Spoons and add them into ESTERO TEA MAKER, leaving the lid open.
Extra tip: make your iced tea extra-strong to enjoy its full flavor and aroma.
Step 2
Add Hot Water
The final taste of your iced tea depends on the temperature of the water when you pour it over the tea leaves. Look below at our steeping guide, explaining the ideal water temperature for each variety of tea.
Step 3
Sit Back and Wait for the Tea to Steep
This is where the magic happens.
Steeping is all about patience and precision. Hurry up, and the tea will have a washed-out taste. Wait too long, and it will taste too bitter and astringent.
HOT TIP: Fruit infusions are the most forgiving teas to use since they can’t be oversteeped.
Most fruit & herbal teas can infuse all day long without turning bitter or astringent since they don't contain Camellia sinensis leaves, which, when oversteeped, can sometimes leave you with that dry and puckery feeling in your mouth.
Don’t forget to give it a little stir.
Make sure all of the leaves in your Steeper are either submerged or at least wet (we don’t want any dry floating tea leaves on the top). This will ensure that each tea leaf has enough heat to help extract it’s amazing flavours, so you get a great tasting cup, every tim
Step 4
Pour the Tea over Ice Cubes
Finally, fill a 16 oz mug or glass with ice cubes and pour your tea over them. Stir a bit with a spoon to help the tea cool faster. Now relax and enjoy your iced tea!
Give it a little stir before sipping
This will help the tea cool down quicker and distribute the matcha evenly throughout your cup.
