3-Ingredient Matcha Ice Cream (No Ice Cream Maker Needed!)

If you love matcha as much as we do, you are in for a treat! Today, we're making a delicious matcha ice cream with only three simple ingredients. And don't worry, you won't need any fancy ice cream maker for this recipe either! So, let's get started.

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 tbsp matcha (depending on desired strength)
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed coconut milk
  • 1 can of coconut cream
  • Your favorite nuts for garnish (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil to drizzle on top (optional)

Note: if you prefer dairy products, you can use regular condensed milk and cream.

Preparation Instructions:

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

First, make sure you have your 3 key ingredients ready: coconut cream, condensed milk, and matcha powder.

I like using our Sensei ceremonial grade matcha because it comes from a very small farm in Japan, and it's of very high quality, it is not bitter and has a lovely umami flavor that's perfect for cooking.

What is the difference between ceremonial grade matcha vs culinary grade?

In ceremonial grade, leaves are grown in shaded gardens, hand-picked, steamed, and stone-ground, giving it a smooth, delicate taste, and making it ideal for Japanese traditional tea ceremonies.

Culinary grade, on the other hand, is often produced from lower-quality leaves, giving it a bolder and slightly bitter taste, making it more suitable for cooking and baking.

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, pour the condensed milk and the coconut cream and sift in two tablespoons of your matcha powder.

Step 3: Blend Well

Now that you have all your ingredients in the bowl, mix them together thoroughly. You want to make sure the matcha is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Step 4: Freeze

Once everything is well mixed, pour the mixture into a container and place it in the freezer. Let it freeze for at least four hours or until it reaches a nice ice cream consistency.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

When you're ready to enjoy your matcha ice cream, scoop it into a bowl and garnish with your favorite nuts. Don't forget to add a spoonful of olive oil for that extra healthy touch.

And there you have it—your very own homemade matcha ice cream with just three ingredients and no special tools. Perfect for indulging in a delightful treat this summer, and it's so simple and easy to make!
