White Prakash is named for Deepak Prakash Baskota, who planted the first tea garden in Phidim in 1984 and went on to found Kanchanjangha Tea Estate — Nepal's first certified organic tea garden, in the foothills of the world's third-highest mountain. The tea was created in his honor, and it shows the same patience: a single leaf and bud, hand-picked in the spring and summer flushes.
Most white teas are barely processed at all. White Prakash is different — after a natural wither, the leaves get a brief, gentle roll of 8 to 10 minutes, just enough to release their fragrant oils before drying. That small step gives it a richness most white teas never reach; some drinkers call it a "silvery oolong." It took a Bronze Medal at the 2019 Global Tea Championship and has collected honors at tea festivals since. It also makes an outstanding cold brew.
In the cup: smooth and flowery, with vanilla and melting buttercream over fresh spring florals and a whisper of muscatel. Fans of Bai Mu Dan or lighter Taiwanese oolongs will feel right at home.
Ingredients: White tea (Camellia sinensis). Certified organic.
